What Happens When Escher Meets Buckminster Fuller at a Very Good Party
Look at the mark long enough and it starts looking back.
That's the point. This isn't a logo that sits quietly in a corner being polite — it's a small machine built from the oldest shapes we know, wired together so that no single part of it can be pinned down without the others shifting underneath your eye. Circle, cube, tetrahedron, grid. Four guests, one impossible room.

An Impossible Triangle, Pushed a Little Further
M.C. Escher spent a good chunk of his career drawing triangles that couldn't exist — three beams that each look perfectly sane on their own, but the moment you trace them around the loop, your brain quietly short-circuits. The Penrose triangle is the most famous case: an object your eye insists is solid and your mind insists is a lie. Escher's trick was flat paradox — a 2D drawing pretending to be 3D nonsense.
This symbol takes that same "wait, that shouldn't work" feeling and gives it an actual body. Instead of a flat impossible triangle, you get a star tetrahedron — two tetrahedra interlaced, the three-dimensional cousin of the six-pointed star — reaching outward until it touches a sphere. And that sphere, depending on the angle your eye decides to commit to, is also just a circle. Not one then the other. Both, simultaneously, like Schrödinger's geometry. The paradox Escher drew as an optical joke on paper has been rebuilt here as a structural fact: a shape that is genuinely, honestly two things at once, no trick lighting required. It's Escher's impossible object taken out of the sketchbook and given a pulse.
The Cube at the Center: Matter, Doing Its Thing
Right in the middle sits a cube — squat, solid, unglamorous, and doing the most important job in the whole piece. The cube is the universal shorthand for matter. It's the stable one. Six equal faces, right angles everywhere, nothing tilting or floating or pretending to be a paradox. In a symbol full of things that refuse to sit still, the cube is the one guest who showed up early, sat down, and started eating the appetizers before anyone else arrived.
That's not an accident, and it's not just visual balance. The cube is here to represent material manifestation — the moment an idea stops being an idea and becomes a thing you can drop on your foot. Every tradition that plays with sacred geometry eventually needs a shape for "this is now real, this exists in the world," and the cube has been drafted for that duty since roughly forever. Plato assigned it to Earth. Alchemists assigned it to salt, the fixed, physical, unmoving principle. Here, it's the anchor everything else is either erupting from or reaching past.
Pyramids Erupting From the Faces
Now look closer at the cube's visible faces. What looks, at first glance, like a tetrahedron simply threaded through the cube is actually something more playful: pyramids rising directly out of the cube's own center panels, as if the cube's surface decided it was bored of being flat and started growing little pyramids out of its own skin. Matter erupting into form. Stillness deciding to have an idea.
This is the tetrahedron doing its second job in the piece — because it's also the shape most associated, across nearly every geometric tradition, with fire, energy, and the spark that gets things moving. So structurally, you've got a static cube (matter) with a dynamic tetrahedron (energy) bursting directly out of it, mid-transformation, caught in the act. It's not resting on top of the cube like a hat. It's coming from inside it, through the faces you can actually see — which is really a tidy little metaphor for how energy actually behaves: it doesn't arrive from outside, it erupts from within whatever's already there.
The Grid: Reaching for the Vector Equilibrium
Follow the lines of those erupting tetrahedra outward and they don't stop at the cube's edges — they keep going, connecting into the larger wireframe lattice that surrounds the whole symbol like scaffolding around a very ambitious cathedral. That outer grid isn't decorative filler. It's a direct nod to the vector equilibrium, also known by its more textbook name, the cuboctahedron.
Buckminster Fuller — engineer, philosopher, and the man who never met a polyhedron he didn't want to lecture you about for three hours — gave the vector equilibrium its modern name and its modern mythology. It's the one shape in geometry where every vector pushing out from the center is exactly equal in length to every vector along the edges. Nothing is straining. Nothing is compressing. It is, structurally, the single most balanced form that exists — which is why Fuller called it the "zero point," the geometric expression of perfect equilibrium, the shape everything either expands from or collapses back into. Modern sacred-geometry circles have since nicknamed it the symbol of zero point energy: the theoretical state of perfect, silent, coiled potential, the calm before absolutely everything.
So the tetrahedron isn't just erupting from the cube for drama's sake — it's reaching toward, and structurally referencing, the one shape that represents total balance. Matter, waking up, stretching toward equilibrium. It's a nice arc, as far as arcs made of straight lines go.
Three Ways to Read the Same Four Shapes
Here's the fun part: sphere, cube, tetrahedron, and vector equilibrium aren't just geometry — they've each been drafted into service by completely different disciplines, and all three readings sit comfortably inside this one small mark.
The Alchemist's Angle
Old alchemy loved its shapes almost as much as it loved being deliberately cryptic about them. The sphere was the symbol of spirit and the unbroken, boundaryless whole — the philosopher's egg, the vessel containing all possibility before it's been sorted into parts. The cube was salt: fixed, dense, the physical body, the part of the Great Work that has to be stabilized before anything else can happen. The tetrahedron, sharp and ascending, mapped neatly onto sulfur and fire — the active, transformative, upward-reaching principle that agitates the fixed material into change. And the vector equilibrium, though it wasn't named that in any dusty grimoire, is exactly the state alchemists were chasing the entire time: the Philosopher's Stone moment, the perfected balance where spirit, body, and transformation stop fighting each other and simply agree. In that reading, this symbol is a compressed alchemical flowchart — spirit containing matter, matter sparking into energy, energy resolving into harmony. All in one glyph, no cauldron required.
The Sacred Geometer's Angle
Sacred geometry treats these same shapes as the literal building blocks of reality rather than metaphors for it. The sphere is the first form — the shape a single point traces when it simply expands equally in every direction, the geometry of unity before division. The cube (and its cousin the octahedron) grows out of that same sphere once you start adding structure, corners, and the concept of "inside versus outside." The tetrahedron is the simplest three-dimensional shape that can exist at all — the minimum structure required to enclose space — which is why it's treated as the seed of form itself. And the cuboctahedron, Fuller's vector equilibrium, is the shape you get when you arrange spheres around a central sphere in the most efficient packing possible — which is to say, it's not an abstract ideal bolted on afterward, it's what nature does automatically when things are left alone to find their most stable arrangement. In this reading, the symbol isn't referencing sacred geometry — it's a small working diagram of how form actually assembles itself, from point to sphere to solid to equilibrium.
The Designer's Angle
And then there's the far less mystical, far more practical reading, which is: these shapes are just good design. A circle reads as unity and containment at a glance, no explanation needed. A cube reads as solid, grounded, trustworthy — the visual vocabulary of "this brand has a foundation." A tetrahedron reads as motion, ambition, upward energy — the shape of a mountain, a flame, an arrow that forgot to point anywhere in particular except up. And a cuboctahedral grid, wrapping around all of it, reads as structure, precision, and craftsmanship — proof that the piece was engineered, not doodled. Stack those associations on top of each other and you get a mark that communicates stability, energy, and mastery simultaneously, in the two seconds a viewer's eye actually spends on a logo before moving on. The mysticism is real and intentional — but it's also, quietly, just very efficient visual strategy.
Sacred geometry has been doing brand consulting for six thousand years; it just never invoiced anyone for it.
So, What Is It, Actually
It's an impossible triangle that grew up, got a body, and found a center. It's a cube playing the responsible adult while a tetrahedron erupts out of its face like an idea that couldn't wait to happen. It's a nod to Escher's paradoxes and a nod to Fuller's equilibrium, shaking hands across about seventy years of two very different men staring at shapes and asking, "but what if this were actually true." Alchemically, it's the whole Great Work in miniature. Geometrically, it's how form itself is built. And as a piece of design, it's simply a mark that's trying to tell you, before you've even read a word of copy, that something solid, something energetic, and something perfectly balanced all live under the same name.
Which, incidentally, is a fairly good description of the person who drew it.
